Funkor Childart Center participated in the National Book Day Celebrations organised by the National Book Foundation at the Pak China Cultural Center. The titled of the celebration was , ‘Open
the Book Open the world - Read for life’, artist / author Fauzia Aziz Minallah did
exactly that by opening a beautiful world through Amai-Roshni Ki Chirya, a
cartoon character she has developed for children.Ms. Minallah gave the presentation on three days.

The presentation started with a delightful video about
‘Amai’ the bird of light’ which was enthusiastically applauded by the children.
Ms. Minallah invited children to come up on stage and express what they saw and
observed during Amai’s video. Rojha, 11 years from Elite School
said that Amai was an amazing bird that turns into a shooting star and takes
children on different adventures.
Students of here were students from GSIS , ICMG, CDA Model School and IMCB were present and participated in the activity.

On the last day of National Book Day Celebrations children from different schools participated invited by Funkor Childart Center, 98 children from Frontier Public School came all the way from Havelian in district Abbotabad to attend Fauzia Minallah’s presentation. The other schools that came exclusivley to watch Amai's presentation were Nilore Model School ,Pehli Kiran School ( Sponsored by ITA) ,Elite School . There were students from Kaiynaat School System I-10/1, Islamabad Model Collage for Girls G-9/2 Islamabad ,IMCB G-10 Islamabad and Advance Leaner School Islamabad as well.

Ayesha imtiyaz 11 years from Frontier public school said
“the message I got was that Amai loves girls as much as boys and that people
should love boys and girls the same”
10 year old Shehryar from Kayinaat School System said that
she loved Amai especially when she takes children into space to look at planets.
6 year old Naheeda from Pehli Kiran School said that Amai loves all children whether
they are rich or poor.
5 year old Shanza
from Nilor Model School
said that Amai loves trees and animals too.
These were the observation of children when they watched
Amai’s video.
Minallah distributed 30 books written and illustrated by her
among all those children who came up on stage and expressed their feelings
about Amai. She also talked about her
books and encouraged children to write stories and illustrate their own books. She
also gifted 150 sketch books among young book lovers so that they can write their own
stories and illustrate them as well.
In the end Ayesha Imtiaz from Frontier Public School
read a passage from Ms. Minallah’s book ‘Amai and the Banyan Tree’.
It was not only an entertaining event for children but
highly educational too, Children were totally involved in Ms. Minallah’s
presentation. They not only learnt about the importance of humans living in
harmony with each other but also with nature too.
